Berisha himself wrote a letter to the American ambassador at the time and accused his bodyguard Izet Haxhina of being involved. But since then, he never came before justice even as a witness...
Tomorrow it will be 26 years since the murder of Azem Hajdari, at that time the DP deputy. Even to this day, this murder has a lot of mystery in it. Several people have been convicted and are in jail, but it is not known who ordered his murder and what was the real reason.
On the day of the murder, Azem Hajdari was in the city of Fier, where he participated in a rally organized by the Democratic Party, then he stopped in Lushnje and in the afternoon he arrived in Tirana. In the evening, he was informed that someone was waiting for him downstairs, where Fatmir Haklaj and Jaho (Salihi) Mulosmani were.
This is the most debatable part, as there are many who say that former Prime Minister Berisha is involved, who allegedly ambushed him through his former bodyguard Izet Haxhi, who has been sentenced to 21 years in prison. as a participant in the crime. It is said that someone called Hajdar.
After being informed, Azem Hajdari with his two bodyguards, Zenel Neza and Besim Çerjan, got down and addressed the car that was below, knocking on the window. At this moment, Fatmir Haklaj gets out of the vehicle and approaches him with a Kalashnikov in his hands, shooting him. Afterwards, Jaho Mulosmani is supposed to have approached on his right and Naim Çangu on his left, both armed. At these moments, Besim Çerja, the bodyguard stationed on the left side of Azem Hajdari, blocks Fatmir Haklaj's gun by holding it tightly with both hands. The direction of the barrel of this weapon was on the side where Zenel Neza and Naim Çangu were and from the right to the left of Fatmir Haklaj, when he saw that Fatmir's gun was blocked, Jaho Salihi approached and allegedly shot him in the head with a 9 mm pistol his friend Besim Cerjan.

Azem Hajdari was killed by the shooting, while Zenel Neza and Naim Çangu were shot. Zenel Neza was injured and managed to survive.
Berisha's maneuvers
But this event has many mysteries. Berisha himself addressed a letter to the American ambassador at the time and accuses his bodyguard Izet Haxhina of being involved. But since then, he never came before justice, even as a witness. When the trial was held for Jaho Mulosmani and the Haxhia brothers, Berisha was called several times to the court by the prosecutor as a witness and never went.
Recently, we had the trial of Izet Haxhi, and the prosecution together with his lawyer requested that Berisha be called as a witness, but the judge rejected the request. It was judge Lazër Sallaku, who closed the CEZ file, which left Berisha out of court. So in 26 years, Berisha has not testified about Hajdar's execution.
Disappearance of evidence
Many evidences about the murder of Azem Hajdari have disappeared. The most important evidence is a recording made against Zenel Neza. After the assassination, Zenel Neza was injured and went to the hospital. The first person who went to his bed was Sali Berisha, accompanied by journalist Ylli Rakipi. The latter had a dictaphone in his hand and they take a testimony from Zenel Neza. This testimony was never made public and the tape disappeared. Likewise, Zenel Neza gave you a diplomatic passport and he left the country where he received asylum. He never clearly testified about the incident.
Likewise, another missing piece of evidence is the diary of the former Minister of the Interior, Perikli Teta. In the investigative file there is a letter from Perikli Teta, who shows that during the investigations, a diary was seized from him by the investigative group, where he wrote all the events about the murder of Hajdar. In that diary, there were very interesting data, where specific names were spoken. But that diary is no longer in the prosecutor's file.
When Haxhi's trial began, there were hopes that Berisha would appear before justice, but it seems that with his conviction, the closure of this file was sealed. Meanwhile, for the first time in 26 years, we will not see Berisha at Hajdar's bust tomorrow. Most likely his loyalists will put flowers and remember him, but Berisha is under house arrest and probably the only reaction will be a status on social networks. / Pamphlet
