When Edi Rama took power in 2013, he built a significant part of his public profile on the idea of austerity, simplicity, and the fight against political caste privileges.
In the first government meetings, the message conveyed was clear: ministers should not behave like feudal lords of power. Business class travel was considered an unnecessary luxury and a symbol of the disconnection of politics from citizens.
It was a time when the propaganda of political renaissance promised the end of privilege and the beginning of a new culture of governance. Albania heard that officials should travel like ordinary citizens, save public funds, and set an example with their behavior.
Thirteen years later, the picture is completely different.
Last night, the Prime Minister traveled to Paris on an Embraer Legacy 650 operated by Union Aviation.
We are dealing with a VIP business jet, designed for billionaires, corporations and clients with high financial power. A single flight like this on the European charter market costs around 30,000 Eu (one way).
Of course, no one expects a prime minister to travel by bus. No one asks the head of government to sacrifice safety or the efficiency of his agenda. The question is not why he travels. The question is why the moral standard that was once preached no longer applies.
In politics, the problem doesn't arise from convenience. The problem arises from hypocrisy. Citizens don't get annoyed because a prime minister flies in a private jet. They get annoyed when they remember that the same politician who now uses VIP jets once presented business class as a display of arrogance and detachment from reality.
This is the classic story of power transforming not only lifestyles but also memory. Yesterday's words become awkward in the face of today's luxury. Promises of austerity melt away in the face of the comforts of long-standing power. Principles are not abandoned with a declaration. They are simply forgotten.
The Albania of 2026 is no longer the Albania of 2013. Public debt has increased, living costs have increased, emigration continues to empty the country, and citizens hear daily calls for sacrifice, patience, and understanding. Against this backdrop, any appearance of political luxury takes on a greater weight than the price of the ticket or charter itself.
In the end, the issue is not the Embraer Legacy 650. The issue is the distance. Not the one between Tirana and Paris. The distance between the politician who promised simplicity and the ruler who today lives in a completely different universe from that of ordinary people. And this is a distance that is not measured in kilometers, but in the lost trust of citizens./ Pamphlet

Kur erdhi ne pushtet ne 2013, hiqej si i thjeshte dhe jo i korruptuar vetem per 1 arsye. Te fitonte besimin e shqiptareve dhe ne kete menyre, te fitonte zgjedhjet pa LSI neper kembe. Kerkonte vote qe te çonte tepsine per skrap, por ne fakt kerkonte ta merrte tepsine vetem per vete. Dhe ia arriti qellimit. I fitoi zgjedhjet e 2017 dhe e hoqi qafe LSI. Dhe aty, nxorri surratin e tij te vertete si super i korruptuar. Instaloi nje sistem mega vjedhjesh dhe ia kaloi edhe LSI per korrupsion.
Ai eshte pronar i gjithe Shqiperise, i takon dhe nje carter. Madje e paska te vogel. Dhe ne vazhdojme me protesta paqesore. Rama jepe doreheqjennn, qesharake. Mire na e ben. Ka rastis nje kryehajdut, kryeminister i popullit me te vjedhur ne europe. Dhe ne presim te jape doreheqjen, me protesta paqesore. Paqesor me ke, me ate qe te tall, qe re vjedh, qe te dhunon, qe te merr pronen, qe te ben karshillek, qe te deformon voten?!?!?!! Se kuptoj dot
