Non-recognition of elections, Sali Berisha's old 'mask'

After every "boycott" and declaration of non-recognition, Berisha ends up in Parliament, de facto recognizing the elections and giving political oxygen to Rama...

Sali Berisha commanded the DP even during the 8 years when Lulzim Basha was the formal chairman. The Presidency and the National Council were not elected, did not meet and did not make any decisions without his order. The facts show that during this entire period Berisha did not break the active connection with Edi Rama. On the contrary, since the amendment of the Constitution in 2008, which passed the closed lists, he has expanded and deepened the bargains with him, even after the elections of May 11.

After the fourth consecutive defeat of the DP, Berisha acts as if he is denouncing vote-rigging. But the videos he himself published show that it was the Democratic commissioners who stuffed the ballot boxes in favor of the SP and its candidates. The approval of the Electoral Code in collaboration with Rama also goes in the same direction: proof that Berisha is an old haggler, who uses the DP for his personal interests.

His repeated statements that he does not recognize the May 11 elections contradict reality: if he does not recognize them, why should he enter the first parliamentary session and take the oath? In the last press conference, when asked if Gazmend Bardhi will be the chairman of the parliamentary group, Berisha gave an implicit approval. So, the entry of the DP into parliament is a fact, and with it the recognition of the result that made Rama prime minister again.

The DP deputies repeat Berisha's refrain about not recognizing the elections, but in the same spirit they say that "they will fight the battle within the parliament". In fact, contacts have been initiated with the Presidency of the Assembly for the position of deputy speaker, for the leadership of the parliamentary group and for the appointment of members to the parliamentary committees. These are clear moves of "de facto" recognition of the elections, while Berisha's acting with shouting in sessions and burning chairs is just a facade for the militants.

MPs will receive hefty salaries and allowances, while Democrats, as they have for 16 years, will continue to "eat grass" under the command of a president who never lets go of the reins./ Pamphlet
