Although wanted since 2023, SPAK has not seized the assets that trafficker Ervin Mata has as a co-investor: the tower next to the Tirana Clock, the "Victoria" hotel, and the tower at the former "Shqipëria Sot" Exhibition near the Tirana Courthouse.
The evidence that SPAK published about Ervin Luan Mata, as the leader of a structured international drug and money laundering group with construction in Tirana, Durrës, Vlora; "Pamfleti" has published it since 2018-2023, but he was not touched, because he had connections with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Two and a half years after being declared wanted by SPAK, drug trafficker Ervin Mata was arrested in the city of Ilha Bela, Brazil, where he was living in hiding with forged documents as a British citizen. The drug trafficking group, of which Mata was one of the leaders, was investigated as part of SPAK's criminal proceedings in 2023, at the insistence of EUROJUST, EUROPOL and several countries. According to Ervin Mata's criminal file, he is a wanted person by 8 countries: Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Ecuador and Albania.
He was found and arrested by the Brazilian Military Police and is in the hands of the justice system of this country. But in the meantime, according to international law, Ervin Mata must be sought for extradition by 7 other countries. Since November 2023, he has been declared wanted by SPAK, but this has been a formal search, since during this period Interpol-Tirana, the police investigative structures FAST-Albania, BKH agents and liaison officers in Albanian embassies have not cooperated with international agencies.
Will SPAK request the extradition of Ervin Mata to Albania?
Despite the fact that the trafficker is an important subject of Brazilian justice, SPAK, through the Ministry of Justice, has the obligation to request his extradition, because it has issued an arrest warrant for him. But we ask this question because SPAK, for exponents of crimes linked to Prime Minister Edi Rama, has canceled investigations and search decisions, such as the case of Amant Josifi of the call-center network, which Altin Dumani said "we are not investigating, because Spain is investigating", while Olsi Rama was not included in the file.
The next question: Will the assets of drug trafficker Ervin Mata be seized as a co-investor in the tower next to the Tirana Clock, the "Victoria" hotel, and the tower at the former "Albania Today" Exhibition near the Tirana Police Court? Because SPAK, although it has been looking for him since November 2023, has not seized any of his assets, even though there is evidence that they are the source of income from drug trafficking.
On November 8, 2019, Prime Minister Edi Rama granted Ervin Mata the construction permit for the 100-meter-high tower at the former “Albania Today” Exhibition, between the Court and the Tirana Police Department. Meanwhile, on June 18, 2018, his father Luan Mata was sentenced to prison in absentia in the city of Minas Gerais, Brazil, along with Brazilian Davanço Silva, for drug trafficking and financial fraud, on the charge of “Criminal activities and profits disguised as farmers”.
