The Israeli airstrike in the heart of Doha, which hit a compound where Hamas leaders were meeting during a US-brokered ceasefire meeting, was not just a military act; it was a stab in the back for international diplomacy, a blatant failure of the Donald Trump administration, and a wake-up call that the US no longer has control over even its closest allies.
Qatar, a friendly country of America, with which Washington maintains the largest military base in the Middle East, was bombed in broad daylight by another US ally, Israel, without clear warning and without respect for the sovereignty of a state that was trying to broker peace.
President Trump's only words were: "It doesn't help Israel or America." Late, empty, and useless!
As he wrote in Truth Social, missiles had scattered the bodies of victims in Doha. The American warning to Qatar came as the bombs were falling. Shame!
This attack shows that the US, under Trump, is no longer a mediator, a guarantor, or a respected power on the global stage. It is a confused spectator who no longer commands even its allies, and is unable to prevent acts that destabilize its strategic plans.
Israel struck in the middle of ceasefire talks. On the table was a proposal for the release of hostages and a ceasefire supported by the White House itself. And the US, instead of preventing it, contented itself with a statement as if it were a powerless NGO.
The Trump administration has failed to read the geopolitical moment. Instead of consolidating America’s role as the architect of peace, it has become an uninformed actor, more a follower of events than a leader. This incident is the most brutal example that shows that “America First” in foreign policy is in fact “America Out.” The US is off the charts, out of control, out of international trust.
In the face of this shame, the world remains silent out of fear, while America is losing credibility every hour.
Qatar's reaction, the condemnation by the EU, the UK, the UN and the Arab League are evidence that the world is reorienting itself towards a new order in which the US is no longer the leader. If an ally like Qatar can be bombed in the middle of US-led talks, then what value is Washington's guarantee?
This is not just a momentary crisis, but a symptom of a deeper failure: the United States of America, under Donald Trump, is no longer capable of defending the international order. The one who was once called the "commander of the free world" is now a President who writes statuses on social networks, while peace burns in the flames of his lack of authority.
If this is the model of the new American diplomacy, then the world is alone in the face of chaos. And this chaos does not start in Gaza, nor in Tel Aviv, nor in Doha, it starts in Washington. More precisely, in the Oval Office that has become a shadow of itself./ Pamphlet
