'Head in Istanbul and body in Washington'
Edi Rama /

How will Edi Rama resolve the impasse he has created between East and West and what will be his fate?

Edi Rama would have preferred to stay in Brussels on Thursday, February 15. The visit, kept secret until the last minute, of the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, was not at the right time for the Albanian Prime Minister. Accustomed to fornicate sometimes in the East and sometimes in the West, despite the support that the Americans have given him without account and without customs, Rama would have liked the Brussels agenda to be an alibi. But a Secretary of State in Tirana is not an event that happens every day, and Rama could not do anything about it. Therefore, like an obedient chicken, he got on the plane and came to the meeting on time.

But how will Edi Rama resolve the impasse he has created between East and West? Beyond the allusions and comments, Antony Blinken came to Tirana to get Edi Rama's signature for the weapons production plants in Mjekës and Gramsh, which are urgently needed for the war market that Europe is on the brink of.

After the Kuçova air base, it was known that this would be the next American move. But Rama has also flirted heavily with Erdogan, the Pasha of the birth, who has untied the bag and basket of benefits for the Albanian Prime Minister, generously. In return, Erdogan has set his own conditions for Rama and he has swallowed that spoonful of soup...

The Pasha of the East does not like American bases in Albania because they disrupt his plans, either in internal politics with the Kurds, or in expansionist plans in the region. Erdogan wants power for himself and the Albanian path has always been very important to him. He allowed Edi Rama to use it every time the latter filled the cup and to escape the punishment of the West, he played the card of the East. Erdogan has allowed him, whenever he wanted, to send messages to Europe that Albania can change sides, that Turkey welcomes him with open arms and supports him whenever necessary.

Therefore, the situation is difficult and Rama is at a crossroads. He will play with two wickets, but now this formula of his, not only does not drink water anymore, but is turning into a dangerous game.

"An outstanding leader and a very good Prime Minister" described Blinken, Edi Rama, and this is an important message. The world is in a difficult moment and the two-door game, for a prime minister immersed up to his neck like Edi Rama, is too much luxury. For this reason, he stood like a 'chicken' in front of Blinken yesterday. Without the smile and glory that he usually wears himself at such receptions.

Moreover, today he has to travel to Ankara. With the same humility, Rama must justify himself to the "Ace under his sleeve" who betrayed him yesterday. He knows how he will find the best formula for Ergodan. But there is no other solution. Maybe this is how he saves some piece of the honor that he has lost over time./ Pamphlet
