Threshold election in Kosovo/ Who "sells" placebo and who "sells" nocebo in Pristina

Shkruar nga Fadil Lepaja

We stay inside with the hope that if it gets really bad, we run outside. Diasporas are hopeless. These have remained worse than others. They have nowhere to express their political will until they win the right to vote in Europe. . . until then, placebo, man! Vote! Your vote, from purgatory, made the difference.

Threshold election in Kosovo/ Who "sells" placebo and who

It is before the campaign. Albini says that he sells placebo, while the opposition sells nocebo. This is what the positions and the opposition say to each other. Well, they don't say it exactly like that, but that's how it feels. In Kosovo, the opposition with small numbers paints a picture with dark colors of reality while giving promises in bright colors. They do not promise much, but they prove that it is impossible to do more than they did when they were in power. When you stop selling placebo, you sell nocebo. Will the citizens buy it?

Kosovars, who used to spend most of their vacations in Velipoja, remember that "legendary" newspaper seller on the beach, who advertised newspapers with "Hajde rrena, hajde rrena" as loudly as the opposition in parliament. Therefore, the expectation is more or less the same as when you read the newspaper on the beach. The seller was talking about politics, which filled the front pages of newspapers. The media is only a mirror. Mirror my mirror, a candidate for deputy asks the mirror, on the eve of the campaign: to sell placebo, or nocebo? Is there such a thing? An honest politician, then! Come on, bitch. . .

You know, nocebo is known as a term used in medicine to describe negative effects that can occur as a result of patients' expectation or belief that a treatment will have unwanted side effects. Did you understand who it is about? For the position or the opposition?

Let's not politicize mental health, you say? Why not? Hasn't it become a business, health? You have money, you have health. That's why politics must be done. Even those who have no money want health.

Aren't public hospitals promoted as great successes? Almost like private ones. Only the long line stands out. . .and the prices.

So nocebo or placebo, are you selling sir? So maybe the journalists should ask the extremely confrontational political parties in Kosovo.

It is understood that the opposition does not expect anything good from the Government. Did the effect occur?

Some say that the opposition in Kosovo "sells" nocebo, while the government sells "placebo". Placebo, in contrast to the phenomenon of "nocebo", speaks of a futile, ineffective treatment in reality, which can bring benefits due to the patient's positive expectations. The patient in our case is the citizens.

From the media bombardment, especially in social media, where citizens follow politicians and their moral or intellectual authorities, whom they trust or like, "patients" create expectations for their favorites, but also for their opposite, depending. They want to see you successful. . . they believe him.

In practice, nocebo can look like this: "Albini will betray Kosovo, I will sell it". How much is Albin selling Kosovo, they ask, without questioning the opposition prophecy.

So there is no other way. The government will steal, it is already stealing says the opposition. The opposition knows, because it starts from experience. Anyone who comes to the government will definitely steal, says experience so far. This is where the nocebo kicks in. This government cannot be different either.

"We are different, we will not steal, we will build, we will protect the freedoms and rights of citizens, we will raise the standard, we will remove the institutions of Serbia from Kosovo". . . did this happen, or is it just a placebo that the government is selling? Nocebo says, opposition is impossible. When we can't win, no one can.

Placebo is returned by the government, we are clean, from our great-grandfather to our great-grandchildren, because we are honest, they are not. Then, the "scandals" break out.

The neurons of political advisers, mentors from abroad and citizens are fired. Each is producing effects, more than tangible results. Creating the expectations, negative or positive, creating the feeling is more important than creating the new, real situation, because in the end who can change a reality in our political microcosm, when the political nature of the region, the continent, say, dictates other circumstances.

People don't worry so much now. We have a little left, especially the diaspora is worried about the country. That is why so many gatherings are held abroad, which are more visited than gatherings inside the country. We stay inside with the hope that if it gets really bad, we run outside. Diasporas are hopeless. These have remained worse than others. They have nowhere to express their political will until they win the right to vote in Europe. . . until then, placebo, man! Vote! Your vote, from purgatory made the difference./ Pamphlet
