
The Transparency Board has published new fuel prices in the country, reducing diesel and increasing gasoline.
According to the decision, the maximum price of diesel for retail sale has been set at 190 lek per liter, while for wholesale sale at 178 lek per liter. Compared to the previous decision, diesel has suffered a decrease of 2 lek per liter.
Meanwhile, gasoline has been increased in price by 1 lek. The board has decided that the maximum retail price will be 173 lek per liter, while the wholesale price will be 161 lek per liter.
The new prices will come into effect from 2:30 PM this Saturday and will remain in effect until the next meeting of the Transparency Board, when they will be reviewed again depending on market fluctuations.
Transparency Board Announcement:
The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 190 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 178 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 173 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 161 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 6th, at 2:30 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
Fishing diesel fuel – the selling price of fishing diesel fuel, referred to Law 9975, dated 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 it is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from the payment of the turnover tax and the carbon tax. Also referred to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels is provided, in the quantities, conditions and criteria determined in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology determined in the normative act, the selling price of fishing diesel fuel results in 95 lek.
