The revolt did not stop at the Prime Minister's Office. Protesters marched towards the police station where those arrested in clashes with the police are being held, while the column of citizens stretched to the center of Tirana.
The 35th day of the national protest did not end with the closing of the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office. Immediately after the speeches, thousands of citizens began marching towards Police Station No. 3, where protesters arrested after clashes with police during Thursday's protest in front of the Parliament are being held.
The march has turned into another demonstration of protestors' strength. The crowd has filled the street in front of the police station, while the line of citizens is so large that it extends all the way to the center of Tirana. Footage shows a long column of protesters continuing to arrive in front of the police building.
Throughout the march and now even in front of the police station, chants of "Free the boys", "Rama resign", "Revolution", "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison" and "New Albania" have been chanted, while protesters demand the immediate release of the arrested citizens.
The demand for their release has become one of the main causes of the protest, after tensions on Thursday, when police intervened with tear gas, pepper spray and escorted dozens of protesters. Organizers have accused authorities of excessive use of force and have demanded an investigation into the police intervention.
This evening, citizens have made it clear that they will not leave the arrested protesters alone. They have gathered in front of Police Station No. 3 with the message that they will continue the pressure until their release, turning the police station into the final stop of a day that marked the most massive protest since the start of this civic movement.
