The government has approved the salary increase for the public administration.
Minister Ervin Mete said that the salary increase will come into effect on July 1 and will benefit about a thousand employees with a total budget cost of nearly 40 billion ALL.
"135,000 public administration employees benefit from the salary increase. The average salary in the public sector reaches 150 thousand ALL. The increased salaries start to be applied from July 1, at a cost of 11 billion ALL for the second 6 months of 2024 and with a total budget cost of nearly 40 billion ALL," Minister Mete said.
He emphasized that the following will benefit from the salary increase: "Employees of the pre-university education system; employees of the health system; employees of the country's security system (State Police, Prison Police, Guard of the Republic, Armed Forces, Fire Protection and Rescue); as well as employees of the implementation and support level of the state administration."
On the other hand, Minister Mete informed that, with the approved legal changes, it is foreseen to realize the indexation of all salaries in the public administration with the inflation rate in force, an indexation that will be realized continuously every two years, starting from 2026.
The categories that benefit from the salary increase:
Army
- For the basic soldier, with today's increase, his salary goes to 71 thousand Lek
-Sergeant, 80 thousand Lek
- Major, 107 thousand Lek
-Colonel, 158,500 Lek
- General, 190 thousand Lek.
- To all these salaries is added a food treatment of 16 thousand Lek
Firefighters
- Fire Assistant (lowest rank) 60,000 Lek
-Firemen 65 thousand Lek
- Chief firefighter 70 thousand Lek
-Chief fire inspector 85 thousand Lek
-Fire inspector 75 thousand Lek
-Fire commissioner 105 thousand Lek
- Firefighter manager 155 thousand Lek
- First fire chief 140 thousand Lek
-Senior fire department manager 160 thousand Lek
Educational system
- The salary of a teacher in high secondary education who has the qualification and who has more than 15 years of experience will be 98,500 Lek.
- The average salary of a teacher in lower secondary education with more than 15 years of seniority ranges from 75,800 to 96,000 Lek.
- Primary school teachers where the average salary with over 15 years of experience goes from 72,000 Lek to 95,200 Lek.
-Employees of the psycho-social service, the average salary is 910 Euros.
-For security officers 800 Euro per month as an average salary.
The health system
- All general practitioners' salary will be increased by 20 thousand Lek above the existing salary.
- All nurses' salary will be increased by 15 thousand Lek above the existing salary.
-Employees of the health system administration also benefit, 15 to 20 percent of their current salary.
The prison sector
- The salary increase ranges from 13 to 27 percent.
- The increase goes from 6 thousand Lek, up to 33 thousand 600 Lek escalated according to the ranks.
- Aspirants, part of the structure of the Prison Police and will be paid 80 percent of the inspector's salary.
