Each person in Albania has 5600 euros in debt.
This amount is derived from calculations based on the level of public debt and the population, which declines from year to year.
The public debt that our country has today is estimated to be 1.36 trillion ALL or 13.6 billion euros. This means that the debt per capita in Albania is 5600 euros.
Based on the data of the Ministry of Finance, in the span of 12 months the debt per capita, calculated in the European currency, has increased by 5%.
However, in real terms, the public debt is on a downward trajectory, the nominal debt per capita has continued to grow.
This happened due to the increase in the stock of debt, but also due to the decrease in the number of the population. With the development of CENSIT, which puts the population at 2.4 million inhabitants, the assessment of debt per capita is even more accurate.
The public debt at the end of 2023 marked the level of 58.9% of the Gross Domestic Product, decreasing by about 5.5 pp.
This level, which is lower than the period before the pandemic, also marks the lowest level recorded since 2010.
The government predicts that in 2026, the stock of public debt will be 56.7% of GDP./Euronews
