6 million dirty dollars to clean up Berisha

Sali Berisha has been clear about his ambitions. He will not be prime minister, he simply wants to remain at the head of the DP. As the most efficient way to remove the "stain" for him and his family.

Let's say it from the beginning: 6 million euros is not money collected by Albanians in America to lobby for Sali Berisha. Just as neither Edi Rama, Ilir Meta or Lulzim Basha had the donation money they used during their opposition to appear in a photo with the US president. The source of money for political parties in Albania is as well known to the public and as uninvestigated by prosecutors as the fact that the 6 million euros paid by the DP for lobbying in the US are money from businesses (whether clean or dirty) that flourished during Edi Rama's "drug regime".

You cannot hide the fact that key exponents of the DP, including Sali Berisha's family, have been doing profitable business these years. But this would be the lesser evil if, in the name of this business that has enriched itself with millions of euros, all those who have not been in a political line with Sali Berisha had not been attacked and anathemaed.

That Sali Berisha fought a great battle to get the logo and seal of the DP in the name of the uncompromising battle of the war with the government has been believed by three categories: people close to him, those who have been the beneficiaries of the scheme to benefit millions, a part of the public opinion makers who have deafened our ears with the theories that all those who are not in the front with Sali Berisha are sold out to Rama and the third part. Those who have been the most mistreated these 12 years by any political party. Those who have blindly believed that Rama will leave and that at the head of this battle should be Sali Berisha and his cronies. Those who have been hoping for 12 years that things will change and maybe they will see a bright day. They are those who are today more confused than ever and are trying to understand: where did 6 million euros come from for Sali Berisha to give his image the final makeover - the removal of the "non grata".

Anyone who has followed this electoral campaign has heard enough of the DP leader saying that he has no political ambitions to become prime minister. And perhaps this is one of the few truths he has spoken in this campaign. Because Sali Berisha has been clear about his ambitions. He will not be prime minister, he simply wants to remain at the head of the DP. As the most efficient way to remove the "stain" for him and his family. And apparently he is not far from this goal. But while lobbying for 6 million euros may help him in his goal, who the hell knows what will happen to all those who see hope on May 11 with the DP logo? Will there be disappointment again? Probably yes.

No matter how hard Sali Berisha's well-paid loudmouths try, they cannot drown out the screaming reality that is leading Rama towards a fourth term. No matter how hard they shout that the evil lies with those who oppose the opposition, they cannot hide the simple fact that 6 million euros for Sali Berisha's make-up will serve something: at least it will make many Albanians realize that the opposition of the opposition are actually those who have dragged them with empty hopes for an imaginary battle with Edi Rama. That the opposition of the opposition are those who make millions that could never be made without the blessing and support of Edi Rama.

And that, at the end of the day, 6 million euros spent so badly will help increase the number of those in this country who think with their own minds and with normal reasons: there is no need to always choose between Edi Rama and Sali Berisha. Maybe no third option on May 11th convinces you. But at least, you have the right to think like a free person and not choose anyone. Because if for so many years you have tried to convince us that Edi Rama, through Soros, has been trying to tarnish Sali Berisha, who in turn paid 6 million euros to remove the tarnish, shouldn't we believe that, without millions, it is impossible to do politics in Albania?
