But the fable of Assad is not very "foreign" to us.
In these days of the most important international event, the so-called "Albanian volunteers" in the troops of the anti-Assad rebels in Syria have come to light again. Although so far more than a verified news, it is a spy of the Turkish media that stands close to Erdogan's government.
But the fable of Assad is not very "foreign" to us. It can even be said that this fable risked ruining the government of Edi Rama, only a month after he won the elections by plebiscite.
So many plums have happened in these countries that very few remember that in September 2013, Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Lulzim Basha and Ben Blushi, openly rejected the official proposal of the government of the United States of America, from Albania to destroy Bashar Al Assad's chemical arsenals. With which the Syrian ruler had tried to bomb and attack his political opponents.
There was an official, specific request from the US State Department to Albania, that the arsenal of chemical weapons be destroyed in a controlled territory, in a high technology.
This request of the Americans came from a negotiation that was taking place on the margins of the UN, with the Russians and with regional actors to analyze and remove from the field of war poisonous war materials, which are prohibited under international law.
Immediately after the US request to Albania, a hysteria occurred in Tirana. Hysteria that had no logic or reason, only populism. Are you saying that the USA wanted to plunge Albania into a chemical contamination? Even then, the first and last demonstration took place in front of the US embassy in Tirana.
The entire season against chemical weapons was nothing but a political stance by Edi Rama's opponents to prevent him from benefiting from the huge bonuses offered by the US. But who did they embrace, whose interests did they support? Assad's allies! Today they can oppose it, but the fact is inside. No matter how much they make propaganda today, we are implementing the objective that an Empire, not an NGO, like the USA knows how to implement and does, regardless of the costs.
