With the killing of two American soldiers in Jordan, the total number of American servicemen killed since the beginning of the conflict with Iran has reached 16. Over 430 others have been injured, while one soldier is still missing.
Here's what is known so far:
March 1 – The first casualties were recorded shortly after the start of the war, when an Iranian drone struck a civilian port in Kuwait, killing six American soldiers.
A seventh soldier, wounded the same day in an Iranian attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, died more than a week later.
March 12 – Six soldiers were killed when a KC-135 tanker plane, used to refuel U.S. military aircraft in Iraq, crashed. The U.S. military said the crash occurred after an unspecified incident with another aircraft and ruled out enemy or friendly fire as the cause.
July 1 – A US Navy pilot was killed after his helicopter crashed in the Arabian Sea. The US Navy said there was no indication the crash was caused by hostile action.
July 18 – Two American soldiers were killed in an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on American forces in Jordan. Another soldier remains missing.
According to data released by American authorities, the conflict has so far caused 16 deaths among the American military, over 430 wounded and one person missing.
