In a normal country, which other countries like Albania had when they first opened the door, the objective should have been common. And in this case, the political parties would normally have campaigned on the fact that their program would lead us to membership as soon as possible...
Edi Rama, with the strong motto of Albania's membership in the European Union, has not trapped his opponents, as is commented. Bad, good, Rama is playing a strong political card, even the strongest that has been played so far as an electoral card by a candidate country.
EU membership is not a utopia today, as Albania has opened negotiations for membership. The whole debate here is about when the negotiations will be concluded and when the political decision to admit Albania will be made.
So essentially, we are not dealing with a utopian goal, we are dealing with a milestone that is ultimately achievable.
In a normal country, which other countries like Albania had when they first opened the door, the objective should have been common. And in this case, the political parties would have normally campaigned on the fact that their program would lead us to membership as soon as possible. Which has happened in almost all the new countries that joined, such as Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, etc.
But here we are seeing a campaign against, or with anger that even if Edi Rama wanted to, he would not accept Albania as a member. This was stated last night in Opinion by well-known DP strategy advisors.
But if Edi Rama doesn't join, why didn't the advisors draft a strategy to take those steps that Edi Rama can't achieve?
If they ran a campaign, it would guarantee a more secure target for membership.
But they have come up with a logic that even if Edi Rama wants to, the EU will not accept Albania as a member. Very well, this is their concept, but do they have an alternative strategy to reach the finish line he expects, namely EU membership, sooner or later?
Of course they haven't. Because in the first place, they didn't even think about it, so they were caught by surprise by Rama's strategy.
Because even though they paid their fair share for the sheriff, the one who has a twin running for deputy in the Vlora River for the Socialist Party doesn't even care about the European Union.
On the other hand, they are so naive that, because they lack a strategy, they have chosen the lazy logic of bringing up a counter-cause just to defeat their opponent. And thus, they have emerged as the most Eurosceptic Balkan opposition of the 6 candidate countries.
Of course, they are not really Eurosceptic, they are simply doing it to burn the "long papers". As happened on Fevziu's show last night. That is, we can enter the EU, we can even close the negotiations, but Edi Rama is not mentioned.
