No vote for the hand that strikes its own!

Will we choose to bring back the dark shadows that brought tears, bullets and graves? Or will we have the courage to finally close the darkest chapter of Albanian democracy...

This Sunday, Albanians will vote for a new parliament. A dark figure from our history is also participating in this race: Sali Berisha. A man who carries a series of national tragedies on his shoulders: from the black year of 1997, to the Gerdec massacre, to the murders on the boulevard on January 21. And instead of time having softened him, he has chosen to preach the same language of violence, revenge and division even today in 2025.

But what is even more worrying is that the violence inspired by Berisha is no longer only directed at political opponents. It is also eroding the people around him. Three years ago, driven by completely personal interests, he personally led a brutal attack on the headquarters of the Democratic Party. It was a sight of shame for every democrat and every Albanian who believes in politics without punches. Violence does not stop with political calls, it becomes a culture, and this culture has already included the structures of the DP. In Elbasan, Berisha supporters raped the son of the DP's double, Luciano Boçi, a few days ago. They did not have the courage to disclose the incident for understandable reasons, but the footage documented the whole thing.

Xhelal Mziu, another figure in the Berisha camp, was caught on camera raping a local official in Bulqiza. Likewise, the DP candidate in Korça, Bledion Nallbati, raped a truck driver in front of cameras and the police. This is not just a diversion! It is proof that violence has become a system and working method in the Democratic Party.

Can we trust the future to a man who did not even spare his own? Can we bring back to the top of the representation a figure who has shown that when you disobey him, he beats you - when you oppose him, he removes you from the lists, etc.?

Albanians have in their hands a decision that goes beyond parties, beyond flags and empty speeches. Today is not just a vote. It is a historical judgment. It is a confrontation between memory and oblivion, between the pain of the past and the hope for tomorrow.

Will we choose to bring back the dark shadows that brought tears, bullets and graves? Or will we have the courage to finally close the darkest chapter of Albanian democracy by showing Sali Berisha the 'place' he belongs to.

History does not forgive. It is written by those who act when courage is needed most. And today, more than ever, Albania needs responsible citizens. To prevent us from telling our children tomorrow that we knew the name and address of the perpetrator, but we gave him another chance for the umpteenth time.

The elections belong to the citizens. But so does the responsibility.
