Two important central developments took place yesterday in DP, before the Presidency meeting. The platform of Gazmend Bardhi, who is the regent of the official opposition, and that of the college of presidents, which is the most powerful political and organizational body within the Democratic Party.
Two completely opposite concepts, two visions, and of course different ideas and perceptions of the political reality within the opposition.
In a word, two worlds that in all likelihood will confront quite naturally and logically in an election environment or act within the party.
Apart from the opinions and attitudes about the current situation, we are dealing with two political realities that are completely different even on the ground. The DP leaders in the districts have been the most politically clear group in the Albanian opposition. When Sali Berisha announced the war to take over the DP, they took a stand against him. On January 8, the blue headquarters has the big sign of the PD militants at the base, who, without appearing on the screens, were the ones who protected the headquarters from the enforcers with crowbars, crowbars and rams.

Those 105,000 votes that PD received on May 14, when they did not come up with candidates for mayor, at the insistence of the opposition MPs, are only the product of the more consolidated and real structure that the Albanian opposition has today in the territory. They are dedicated votes, and not like the votes of the Union for Victory, which were given to him by the electorate that does not like Edi Rama, simply because they were the only alternative. Anyone who knows the political reality in Albania knows very well that those 105 thousand dedicated votes can easily be doubled or tripled.
Therefore, the college of presidents today is the most feared structure by the deputies who see this structure as a direct personal danger. Jorida Tabak's proposal today at the presidency meeting to set up a parallel structure, i.e. 12 DP leaders for the 12 districts, is nothing but a political coup. If such a thing is to be done, only the National Council of the DP will have to approve it. The imitation of the Rama model in the SP, i.e. with a political envoy in the districts, is only regressive, but also inefficient.
The political leaders of the districts in the SP have destroyed the autonomy and power of the elected structures of the SP in the territory. But the SP is a governing political force, where it defends itself and the majority in elections.
While the opposition gains its legitimacy in the territory precisely from the elections and the internal democratic life.
Of course, Tabak's proposal looks like a compromise for at least the 12 district leaders who will likely be deputies, to run again in the 2025 elections.
However, the situation in the DP seems to be quite different, the opposition base of 2 years of internal war, not only is the protagonist of the developments in the party, but the chances are that they will not accept a compromise with the deputies who ring the bell of the union . They, that is, the heads of the branches, have seen in their own skin why the union did not happen, and what kind of union those who make liturgies for it in the media and social networks were looking for.
The reality is that the deputies who are represented by the group that not only defended the thesis not to come up with candidates on May 14, but also campaigned for the candidates for the pulpit, have finally separated it from the real base of the DP. Therefore, they are looking for a way out, and Bardhi's statement that consultation with Sali Berisha is not excluded was not accidental. But will they go?
