"Let's end the transition", activist: Edi Rama should be investigated as the head of a criminal organization

Minute by minute/ Nothing stops the civic revolt, Rama's removal and arrest

The 47th citizen protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office building continued with speeches by activists, who repeated their criticism of the political class and justice institutions.

Among the speakers was activist Sidorela Vatnikaj, who stated that the protest aims to end the political transition and demanded that investigations extend to the highest government leaders.

"This square has clearly shown its stance towards the 36-year-old corrupt political class. We have been here every day to say that we are here to end the Albanian transition with a single corrupt political class, which has only changed sides, but has never relinquished power! Edi Rama should be investigated as the head of a criminal organization and not as the Prime Minister of Albania!", declared Vatnikaj.

Following her speech, the activist said that support for SPAK and GJKKO is not unconditional, but is accompanied by the demand that justice act against all officials suspected of corruption.

"We have been and are in support of the work of SPAK and GJKKO, but not with closed eyes, but with a demand: Investigate Rama, arrest Balluku! Investigate all the corrupt, those who have put their hands in our pockets for 36 years!", she said amid the cheers of the protesters.

Vatnikaj's speech was met with applause from the participants in the protest, which continued with calls against the government and the political class.

"Today everyone has come together, young and old. The students are wearing graduation caps and have a message for all of you. You think we are tired and we are going to leave too ," the student said.

Following her speech, the citizen addressed the government and the political class, emphasizing that young people will continue to stay in Albania and demand change.

"O you dear government officials, rotten political class, we remind you once again: we will stay, we will not leave," she declared and emphasized the importance of youth for the future of the country.

"If the future of Albania is in Albania, without youth there is no Albania," the protester emphasized.

"MPs who make excuses and stay in power", Lika 'stabs' Spiropali from protest

Minute by minute/ Nothing stops the civic revolt, Rama's removal and arrest

The organizer of the civic protest, Edison Lika, has criticized the Socialist MPs who, according to him, are trying to appear as critics of the government, but continue to remain part of the Socialist Party.

Without mentioning names, his statement was interpreted as a reference to MP Elisa Spiropali, who recently submitted a motion to the SP Assembly for the opening of the party.

From the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Lika said that citizens support anyone who stands up to the government, but they do not accept, according to him, unclear positions.

"We encourage anyone who stands up to this regime. We demand from SPAK an investigation of Rama, as the criminal head of this corrupt system. But we will not be satisfied with deputies who pretend to stand up to the party, but continue to be within the party. We demand that everyone's movements be clear, visible and in cohesion with the demands of the square," declared the activist.

Citizen calls on SPAK from protest: Arrest Edi Rama!

Minute by minute/ Nothing stops the civic revolt, Rama's removal and arrest

The 47th citizen protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office building continued with speeches by citizens and activists, who reiterated their demands for political change and an investigation into the affairs that have accompanied the government.

One of the protesters focused on the issue of the law on protected areas, stating that the European Union has also taken the same stance as the protesters.

"The EU has come out publicly and asked the government what we have asked, the cancellation of the law on protected areas! We also ask SPAK to continue the investigations, if it has started the investigations, not to stop them until Edi Rama is brought to justice!" , he said.

During his speech, the protester also raised questions about the Prime Minister's responsibility for the affairs involving former government officials. The protester also called on the Special Prosecution Office to not stop at other officials, but to also lead to the arrest of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"How is it possible that a prime minister who has many ministers accused and some in prison, is not considered a defendant?! Is it possible that all these affairs of this government over the years have happened without the knowledge of the prime minister? Why is he called prime minister, he runs them!", declared the protester.

The speech was received with applause from the participants in the rally, while the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office continued with other calls and demands addressed to the government and justice institutions.

"This movement does not enter into negotiations", the activist's strong message to the Prime Minister's Office

Minute by minute/ Nothing stops the civic revolt, Rama's removal and arrest

After marching from Skanderbeg Square to the Prime Minister's Office, the protesters stopped in front of the government building, where they began their speeches on the 47th day of the civic protest.

The first to speak was activist Edison Lika, who emphasized that the movement does not have a leader or political representation and that its representatives are the citizens themselves who participate in the protest.

"This movement cannot be soiled or touched by anyone. Therefore, we tell anyone who tries to represent this movement that they will not succeed! The representatives of this movement are all those who are in the square! This movement has no representation, but a physical presence in the square! This movement will never enter into negotiations because its demands are clear. We have no intention of negotiating with anyone,"   declared Lika.

The activist reiterated that the main demand of the protest remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, while calling on the Special Prosecution Office to investigate the head of government.

"The first point of this protest is what we have been demanding since day one and that is Rama's resignation! We demand from SPAK the investigation of Edi Rama as the criminal head of this corrupt system!", Lika said amid cheers from the protesters.

"How much longer do we have to wait?", protester appears with symbolic clock in the square

Minute by minute/ Nothing stops the civic revolt, Rama's removal and arrest

A symbolic moment drew attention during the 47th anti-government protest, as a young man appeared in front of the Prime Minister's Office with a watch on his wrist, on which was written the message: "How much longer do we have to wait?".

According to him, the clock symbolizes promises that have not been kept over the years, mentioning 24-hour drinking water supply, health services, infrastructure, electricity and Albania's membership in the European Union.

"This is a very simple message for all the things that Edi Rama has promised. And the question is very clear: how long do we have to wait for 24-hour water? How long do we have to wait for decent healthcare? How long do we have to wait for 24-hour electricity? How long do we have to wait for basic infrastructure? How long do we have to wait to join the EU?", he said.

The young man said that these were repeated promises in election campaigns, but according to him, they were not fulfilled.

"These are all campaign promises and I want citizens to remember them. Before they vote, promises are always made: 'We will have 24-hour water, 24-hour electricity, we will join the EU, we will build the train, we will do many things', but none of them have been done," he added.

He also asked another question that, according to him, summarizes the reason for the protest. The protester emphasized that he has been part of the rallies since the protests in Zvërnec and said that he has no intention of withdrawing.

"And my question is very simple, how long do we have to wait for us to have a decent life in Albania? I have been at the protests in Zvërnec, I am not tired at all. Fatigue is non-negotiable at a time when basic needs are at risk," the citizen concluded.
