Ilir Meta crossed the red line!
Ilir Meta

Ilir Meta yesterday and today passed his goals of a politician who has been a protoganist in Albania. As a direct reaction against Ilir Meta were the two statements of the two most powerful embassies in Tirana, the American and the British.

SPAK received full support from the American Embassy and the British Embassy. And from other embassies. Because Ilir Meta viciously attacked the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani.

The stature of a former president, former speaker of parliament and former prime minister did not allow such a derogatory and insulting vocabulary towards Altin Duman. This dictionary is not allowed to anyone, and even more so to the one who is investigating.

Ilir Meta may have all the right of God to criticize or attack with facts and arguments, if he has any, that Altin Dumani is being used politically or by internationals, but in no way with such insults because they harm Ilir Meta himself.

Ilir Meta is no longer the accused of these 33 years, as the majority says, because there are others more politically powerful before him. But Ilir Meta yesterday and today exceeded his goals of a politician who has been a protoganist in Albania.

As a direct reaction against Ilir Mete were the two statements of the two most powerful embassies in Tirana, the American and the British.

The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted immediately through a post on the X platform, where it states that it supports the punishment that KPL gave to these attacks and states that it stands by the legal professionals who seek to end impunity.

"We welcome the condemnation by KLP of the direct and indirect attacks against SPAK in the last days and weeks. We will continue to stand by the overwhelming majority of Albanian citizens who support the new justice institutions and the key role they play in Albania's democracy. The US stands by law-abiding justice professionals and will support all those who seek to end impunity," the US embassy said in a statement.

While the embassy of Great Britain was more concrete, directly as soon as Ilir Meta attacked Altin Duman.

Apparently, we will have dark clouds over the headquarters of the Freedom Party, although lightning should also fall elsewhere in the SP!

Today Ilir Meta crossed every red line and every limit that a career politician should have. Altin Dumani remains the most voted by the Albanian public and has popular support together with SPAK prosecutors.

Here is the chronicle from "Voice of America":

The American Embassy in Tirana and the Delegation of the European Union, as well as the British Embassy, came out on Wednesday on the side of the Special Prosecutor against Organized Crime and Corruption, headed by Altin Dumani, after repeated attacks against them, in recent days, by former president and chairman of the Freedom Party Ilir Meta.

Even today during a press conference, Mr. Meta accused Mr. Dumani of being a "political spokesman of the Renaissance party", and that according to him, he opened the "ÇEZ-DIA case in December 2019 by order of Edi Rama and McGonigal. And at the height of the war, to protect the Constitution and the Constitutional Court". Likewise, according to Mr. Meta, the head of the Special Prosecutor's Office is trying to arrest him, "yes, Ilir Meta from prison, he will dissolve that criminal cell that is there", declared the chairman of the Freedom Party, while using an offensive vocabulary towards Mr. Dumani.

Almost the same harsh and threatening tones, and insulting epithets, he had spoken the day before. Mr. Meta thus becomes the second important politician to attack the Special Prosecutor's Office, which for a long time has been the target of accusations against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who has been under house arrest since December. Mr. Berisha is under investigation, under suspicion of corruption, for the procedures followed for the privatization of the former Partizani sports club.

The day before, the High Prosecution Council, KLP, reacted through a statement, expressing concern about "the statements of special subjects in the audio-visual and electronic media, regarding the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) and the head of her".

Offering "unreserved support for the legal activity of every prosecutor", KLP "condemns any hate speech, expression, insulting and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of prosecutors or exert pressure on them, calling on everyone not to interfere in any way with the professional work of the prosecutors of the Special Prosecutor's Office".

The statement of the High Prosecution Council was supported on Wednesday by the American embassy in Tirana, which further emphasized that "we will continue to stand by the vast majority of Albanian citizens who support the new justice institutions and the key role they play in Albania's democracy. The US stands by law-abiding justice professionals and will support all those who seek to end impunity."

Even the Delegation of the European Union, while talking about "unacceptable statements" states that "the EU stands by Albanian magistrates and professionals engaged in the fight against corruption and organized crime" underlining that "attacks or intimidation against members of the judiciary have no place in democracy".

In the same line, British Ambassador Alastair King-Smith, who brings to attention, through a statement on social networks, that he has "reiterated the United Kingdom's strong support for SPAK and their vital efforts to improve accountability and to put an end to impunity, in the interest of all Albanian citizens"./ Our Time
