Maybe someone more knowledgeable can explain this mystery...
These stations, built over the past two years with a fund of about 2 million euros received from the World Bank, are scattered throughout the south of the country. But instead of providing information for tourists, they are sad, empty, rusty kiosks abandoned and without any real function. In the summer they serve only to shelter those few donkeys from the scorching heat, and now in the fall they look even sadder from their abandonment.
Anyone who travels along the Këlcyrës Gorge-Bënjë segment can see with their own eyes these abandoned "centers": one at the exit of the Këlcyrës bridge, one in the center of Përmet, one in Petra, another in Bënjë, and a "super information center" under construction (with restaurants) near Guri të Qytetit, this a protected area.
"Ironically, not only is there no service of any kind, but there is not a single visitor who stops to receive "information" prepared by our Ministry of Tourism," the researcher says.
The researcher says that even after questions have been addressed to the ministry or the World Bank, from which the income for these investments was secured, he has not yet received an answer.
"No one knows why they were built, who they serve, and what "information" these stations provide. Even after questions addressed to the Ministry of Tourism and the World Bank office, no answer."
At a time when every traveler has a digital phone in their pocket and full of tourist apps, the question arises:
Why are we still building kiosks from the last century along the Vjosa River or even further?
"Maybe someone more educated can explain this mystery, since no one from the World Bank, which invested the money (ours, of course), or from the Ministry that built it, is answering."
