Berisha doesn't mind that he seems funny to those who know what nonsense he's talking about.
Today in the Parliament session, Sali Berisha took the podium and demanded a law for the “de-Soroization” of Albania, as he called it. For those who don’t understand, it is similar to having made a law for de-communization and not allowing the secretaries of the Party of Labor to be in politics.
In this case, we would not allow people funded by the Soros Foundation to enter politics. Such are half of Sali Berisha's presidency, the press advisor, and 90% of his son's television.
Berisha is not upset because he seems ridiculous to those who know what nonsense he is talking about. He will speak to those who do not understand and who know until now that the only thing they know is that Sali Berisha is anti-American and sanctioned by the US. He is telling them that he is now pro-American, and is even their envoy in Albania to fight the enemies of the US, who until yesterday, according to him, were infiltrated in Albania.
And he is not the only one in the Balkans doing this. In Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, upon hearing that USAID was having problems with the new US government, raided the offices of four NGOs that had been funded by USAID, and in doing so settled scores with them, because they had apparently annoyed him in power.
Berisha is doing more or less the same thing as his "brothers-in-law" in Serbia. He is exploiting the changes in the US, which are internal American matters, to interpret his over 20-year history against the US.
Sali Berisha was not declared “non grata” in 2021 due to any incident. He has clashed with the US government since 1995, worsened relations in 1996, and almost went to war with them in 1997, as reflected in all the declassified State Department documents for that year.
Further, a black file was opened against him in the CIA in 1998, after two Al Qaeda attacks on the American embassies in Riyadh and Nairobi, after it was discovered that the Al Qaeda terrorist cell had had Albania as a logistical base during his time in power. One of the leaders close to Al Qaeda's number 2, specifically his brother, was provided with a service passport in Tirana. The entire Al Qaeda terrorist group that operated in Bosnia had Albania as a safe haven. The scandal deepened when it emerged that the attack on the twin towers was also coordinated, among others, by one of the Al Qaeda soldiers in Tirana, who had been there since the time of Berisha.
Berisha's return to power added to his family's black record of corruption.
Berisha's lobbyists, who came up and down from the US to Tirana for arms, energy and real estate businesses, some coordinated by Damir Fazlic, gave Berisha the confidence that he and his family could do whatever they wanted with the power they had regained. But in fact, they did even worse: they dug a hole for him, supplying the US with the Berisha family's affairs, with the legal real estate dealings of his daughter and the villainy of his son, who also misused American companies, when he buried 26 people alive in Gerdec, or with Berisha's criminal obsession with killing four innocent and unarmed citizens on January 21.
Berisha has been sanctioned as an underminer of democracy, and this refers to the elections of May 26, 1996 and the riots of 1997. He is also a blackmailer of the judicial system, and this refers to his fight against justice to prevent his son in Gërdec and himself from being affected after the events of January 21. He is also a beneficiary of major corruption, considering all his activity in the first and second governments.
In May 2021, he was simply declared "non grata" after it was seen that he was insisting on dictating the political course of the DP in function of his family troubles.

Now that the US government has unusually transformed itself into an enemy of previous US governments, and even an enemy of the transatlantic US, Sali Berisha is trying to present the new political battle in the US as a battle in his favor.
Of course, he does this for those who think with his own head. For example, his lobbyist sent a journalist to the US Congress who, after interviewing all the USAID and Soros funding, added a sentence that said: “Critics say Sali Berisha has been convicted by this new US-funded justice system,” to present this as “raising an issue in Congress.”
Berisha’s problem with the Albanian electorate is not “non grata.” Those who voted against him by 1 million votes in 2013 voted for him when he was not “non grata.” His problem is with the Albanian people, who, to their misfortune, hate him as a murderer and a thief. In fact, being “non grata” has simply given Albanians the feeling that they are in agreement with the American government on him.
If Berisha hopes that through lobbyists and millions thrown at him he will lift US sanctions against him, he will help his opponents more than himself. It will help them not only defeat him, but also to be free from the anxiety of future US sanctions against them, as it would create a precedent of a ridiculous US that imposes and lifts sanctions with money, according to Berisha.
It is more convenient for him to fight in these conditions than to pretend that he has now bought the USA. The USA is the one that buys useful enemies when it needs them for its interests. We are talking about enemies like Putin. Berisha is a useless enemy for him. He is simply a client of an American lobbyist.
