Why did Berisha's allies go to meet Erion Veliaj?

Forza Italia has also done this for Sali Berisha, and was even the first party to take a stand on his behalf when it issued him with prison sentences.

Lorenzo Grassini is an Italian MEP for Forza Italia, while Roberto Berardi is a Senator of the Italian Republic, elected from the ranks of Forza Italia. The center-right party in Italy, an important ally of the government of Giorgia Meloni, which has as its representative in the government cabinet the party leader, Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.

Both of these politicians came to Durrës to meet Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj in the detention center. In a video they shared on social media, they say that although they were well received, they were not allowed to meet Veliaj.

But anyway, they expressed their position, which was both human and political. Human, which had to do with solidarity with Erion Veliaj as a person, colleague and of course a politician of Albania that they consider a friend.

But the essence of their stance was political, as is clearly seen in the message shared in the video. They emphasize that they are against what in Italy is called "preventive arrest" and we call it prison detention without trial.

Forza Italia is considered one of the parties that call themselves "guarantors" against the "Jacobinists." That is, they are clear in their stance that every individual or official should be in prison after the final decision, that is, on appeal, and not wait for the long process in detention cells.

Forza Italia has also done this for Sali Berisha, and was even the first party to take a stand on his behalf when it issued him with prison sentences.

This political force is the ally of the EPP in Italy and a political reference for the Balkans, also due to the fact that Tajani, as Foreign Minister, was also the president of the European Parliament, namely one of the most influential politicians on the continent.

Essentially, this was not a political visit, nor a gathering of friends, because if it were, Veliaj's friends or the SP's allies on the European left would have come.

But they don't do it because they are afraid to come forward on issues where justice has intervened. As the SP does in our country, while for a party like Forza Italia, which has overcome the "guarantee" battle, it was not a problem at all.

In fact, this is only happening for the Veliaj case, not for the other two high-level ones, even though they have closer allies.

The signs are that we are dealing with a clear political signal, where the European right wanted to give from Albania. That European right that has the majority in the government and the European Parliament, but also that was confirmed in Germany.
