Shame on you, Edi Rama!

Shame on you, Edi Rama!

Therefore, this visit by Rama, a representative of a people that has shown sensitivity towards Nazi victims, but also as the prime minister of a majority that calls what is happening to innocent Palestinians an injustice and a crime, is a great shame...

Albania is too small a country to solve big problems. Only the great delusion of small politicians can lead it into troubles and embarrassments that it has no right to suffer.

Any visit to Israel at any other time would be more than normal. The Israeli people have found in the Albanians an unprecedented helper, marking a history unrepeatable in any other country in Europe, such as the rescue of Jews and their non-surrender to the Nazis during World War II.

This dignified, humane and proud act of Albanians contradicts the reality in which official Israeli policy finds itself today, becoming a feeder for a deadly machine that has become blood-soaked and can no longer see through its eyes, with victims including women and children, old men and women, doctors and nurses, journalists and first aid providers.

Therefore, this visit by Rama, a representative of a people that has shown sensitivity towards Nazi victims, but also as the prime minister of a majority that calls what is happening to innocent Palestinians an injustice and a crime, is a great shame.

It's a shame, because it comes at a moment when it seems to serve more to cure the image of an inhumane policy than to gain something positive for itself or its people.

It is a great shame, because it comes at a time when the world is witnessing one of the greatest tragedies of the 21st century, with over 60,000 civilians killed – mostly women and children – while Rama chooses to appear on the side of those being accused by the United Nations of atrocities of genocidal proportions.

It's a shame, because it's not just a political issue, nor a diplomatic issue, it's a matter of conscience. And Rama showed that there is no sensitivity, no revolt, no inhibition in the face of this bloodshed.

It is also shameful that he uses religion and Muslim believers whenever he needs them for votes, appearing as a hoxha with the Quran in his hand and hadiths in his mouth, while as soon as he is given the first opportunity, he shows himself to have no connection with either the hoxha or the priest, nor with the Quran or the Bible.

Rama is neither the first nor the last leader to join the chorus of the genocidal policy that the murderous machinery of the state of Israel is carrying out today in Gaza, but he is the representative of a people who, even in this situation, should show the world their reflection in a time and context where saving the Israelis was not at all easy.

If the blood of innocent children doesn't hurt you, how can you be hurt by the plight of the people who elected you? If the greatest injustice of this century doesn't revolt you, what good is power? Edi Rama has betrayed not only human sensitivity, but also the political face of Albania in the world. And for this, there is no more appropriate word than: SHAME ON YOU, EDI RAMA!
