The decline of the US and the EU is their horizon!

In fact, "Trumpism" has marked unprecedented records of misunderstanding in Tirana during these months.

There was some very good news this week: The return to work, after a two-month hiatus, of the American experts assisting SPAK and GJKKO.

Albanians who do not want the return of impunity in high places have reason to feel calm. SPAK prosecutors and GJKKO judges have reason to feel even more encouraged.

We must remember that upon taking office in January of this year, the new administration of President Trump suspended for a three-month period all American aid and assistance programs around the world in order to verify their efficiency and usefulness in relation to its priorities. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had announced that the programs that would pass the test would be automatically activated. The others would be closed or restructured. Everything is logical.

SPAK and the new justice system in our country passed the class before it was even three months old. It was understood in Washington a few weeks ago that there was no dilemma about their mission and work. Now it has become quite clear that their support will continue as before. It will even be stronger.

This new development proves once again that American patronage in support of the new justice system has been and is bipartisan. So from both Democrats and Republicans. But it is more significant this time. It is understandable why.

The enemies of the new justice, who increase in direct proportion to the number of those investigated and convicted, have made their hands bleed from friction these two months, celebrating, in anticipation of the American unplugging, the abandonment of SPAK by the US. The misunderstood Cassandras who refer dreams and desires to the air must register another failure of their bets.

In fact, "Trumpism" has marked unprecedented records of misunderstanding in Tirana during these months. It is as if the political agenda with which Trump won the elections to lead the world's superpower was cooked with the horizon, frustrations and personal problems of the officials and former high officials of our political village under investigation, investigated, on trial or judged, sanctioned or candidates for sanction. The format of misunderstandings at high levels multiplies in various creative forms among the trushpla fans below. It is a tragicomic book in itself.

Nothing new, nothing surprising. The decline of the US has been and is their horizon.

But the hour of encountering the truth is coming.

The final truth is that the Americans returned. The day after this day, as if in a response to the return of the American experts, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, once again blamed the justice reform on Soros. In the hope that he could turn Trump against a "devilish" act of his enemy, or to give a "principled" justification to the (impossible) promise to dissolve SPAK, or to add some votes from the ranks of the stricken socialists who are not finding SPAK's side, or who knows what the mind that insists on a minority option in the Albanian electorate is saying.

History repeats itself. In 2017, when Trump was 'married' for the first time, the DP did the same thing. It sued in Washington the reform that it had voted for itself as the work of Soros. We know what the Trump 1 administration's stance was on the reform of the "enemy" Soros. Ambassador Donald Lu strongly pushed for the establishment of the new justice institutions, despite many obstacles from the opposition. The subsequent ambassador, Yuri Kim, appointed by Donald Trump, strongly supported their implementation.

Trump's people have twice verified the American, European and Albanian co-authorship of the justice reform. From which it emerged that it was born as a 'sui generis' reform, with some provisions within the limits of Western legality, but there was no other way to combat impunity in the system and an elite above the law in Albania.

Repeating the same intrigue under these conditions is to diminish and insult the USA, its President. I am not adding here former Chancellor Merkel and a host of prime ministers and senior European officials yesterday and today, who have supported and continue to strongly support the new justice. I am not adding the other fact that the balance of SPAK is the strongest impetus for our country to become a member of the EU. The reform can be reviewed for some determinations exceeded by its own success, but its pillars cannot be touched.

Everyone has the right to defend themselves against accusations. But to see the larger world through the lens of personal distress is to diminish it or to view it as an ostrich.
