Police have provided details of the serious incident in a family in Himara, where 35-year-old Spiro Dhimaleksi held his parents hostage in their apartment, under threat of a cutting tool.

Dhimaleksi, who was in a serious psychological state, had isolated his parents, aged 60 and 65, in a room, threatening them with a knife that he would kill them. After being notified, the "Eagle" forces of the Vlora DVP also went to the apartment.

The Blues report that the 35-year-old was suffering from mental health problems and had isolated himself in his room.

Initially, it was possible to get his mother out, who was in the room with him, trying to calm him down, and after some professional negotiations by the police officers, it was possible for the young man to leave the room without harming himself.

He was then taken by ambulance to the hospital to receive the necessary medical attention.

"The immediate and professional response of the Police prevented a possible case of self-harm by a 34-year-old man.

Today, the services of the Himara Police Commissariat, after receiving a notification from family members about a 34-year-old citizen who was suffering from mental health problems and had isolated himself in his room, refusing to leave, organized the work and immediately went to the address provided.

The "Eagle" forces of the Vlora DVP have also gone to support local services.
