Police provide details on the causes that led to the tragic accident...
The police have revealed new details from the tragic accident on the "Vorë - Fushë Krujë" axis. Through a media release, it is announced that the cause of the tragic accident in which four young people lost their lives was a concrete mixer.
The 24-year-old, who was driving without a license for this category of vehicle, remained on the road without turning on the lights.
Meanwhile, it is also suspected that the Mercedes vehicle in which Enejdi Laçi, 25, Erildi Laçi, 20, Enrikejd Kurti, 24, and Andi Laçi, 22, were traveling was speeding beyond the permitted speed limits.
Police say the concrete mixer driver Aleksandër Krashi has been arrested, along with the manager of the company where he worked, Danjel Hoxha. Meanwhile, the company's administrator has been declared wanted. Valentin Krashi, who helped the concrete mixer driver leave the scene, was also arrested.
Police notification
Following the preliminary information provided this morning, regarding the accident that occurred in Fushë Prezë, we would like to inform you that following the investigative and procedural actions, carried out under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, specialists from the Tirana Traffic Police Commissariat arrested the following citizens in flagrante delicto:
-AK, 24 years old, the driver of the concrete mixer vehicle, for the criminal offenses of “Violation of road traffic rules”, “Driving the vehicle in an irregular manner” and “Leaving the scene of an accident”. On 19.03.2025, at around 23:50, on the road segment “Vorë – Fushë Krujë”, the “Mercedes Benz” vehicle driven by citizen EL, 25 years old (equipped with a driving license), which was suspected of speeding beyond the permitted limits, hit the concrete mixer driven by citizen AK (without a driving license for this category of vehicles), which had stopped on the roadway, but had not turned on the traffic light. As a result of the impact, the “Mercedes Benz” vehicle burst into flames and as a result the driver and 3 passengers lost their lives. After the accident, the driver of the concrete mixer left the scene;
-VK, 25 years old, relative of the 24-year-old, for the criminal offenses of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth", as he is suspected of having removed the 24-year-old from the scene of the accident;
-DK, 34 years old, manager of a concrete production company, in which citizen AK was employed, for the criminal offenses of “Violation of road traffic regulations”, “Violation of occupational safety regulations”, “Illegal employment” and “Hiding income”. The verifications carried out revealed that the manager had not taken measures to equip the concrete mixer with the necessary documentation for circulation and had employed the driver of the concrete mixer without having a driving license for this category of vehicles.
-Also, the administrator of this company, citizen SH, 27 years old, has been declared wanted. Efforts are underway to capture him.
The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
