Nikoll Radaçi, the perpetrator of the tragic accident that killed two children and injured a third, is expected to appear in court this Tuesday for the determination of a security measure.
The serious incident occurred at noon on May 3 in neighborhood no. 15 of Durrës. Three children were playing with a ball on the sidewalk when they were hit by a vehicle driven by Radaçi, who, according to preliminary data, was drunk and was driving at high speed.
As a result of the collision, Enea Muçaj, 12 years old, and Klersi Nikolli, 10 years old, lost their lives, while another child, 8 years old, was seriously injured, but managed to survive.
Meanwhile, information about the driver's record has also been brought to light. According to information, four years ago his license was suspended for only one month for speeding, although the Highway Code provided for a harsher measure, up to eight months of driving license suspension.
The incident has caused strong reactions in public opinion and has led to political clashes between the opposition and the majority. In yesterday's plenary session in the Assembly, it was requested to strengthen measures in the Road Code to prevent similar cases.
