One of the most wanted people in Europe has been handcuffed by the latest action of Europol, which arrested 197 members of criminal drug and arms trafficking gangs.
Raul Moreno, the most wanted in Europe was arrested on September 7, 2023 in Bogota, Colombia.
The action also led to the arrest of citizens from Albania, Poland, Spain and France. The super trafficker Raul Moreno was found based on the information provided by the Spanish National Guard and Interpol, which in cooperation with the Colombian authorities managed to conduct an operation to capture him. The most wanted had arrived in Colombia in 2020, after fleeing from Spain, following the seizure of a large shipment of cocaine. The arrested person was organizing a large shipment of narcotics from Colombia to the Ports of Valencia in Spain disguised as shipments of fruit and vegetables.
Part of the action was the arrest of two Albanians involved in cocaine trafficking in Colombia, specifically Besnik Nikolli, also known as 'Niko' or 'El Gordo', as well as Lirido Ajazi or Lirido Shurtaj, known as 'Mario'.
The police report says that Niko was arrested in the coastal city of Santa Marta and that his role was to link drug traffickers in Colombia and France. According to the police, Nikolli has a history of more than 10 years in crime and used the port of Santa Marta to send loads of cocaine to France.
In the role of coordinator, he is accused of exporting at least two tons of cocaine per year. The other Albanian, Lirido Ajazi, was caught in an area of Cali and was the organizer of the meetings with the Colombians.
He had contacts with Colombian, Albanian, French and Dominican cartels. He arrived in Colombia after being wanted by the police of several European countries for various crimes, including drug trafficking. The police have announced that Lirido Ajazi transported the cocaine using double suitcases. According to Europol, the arrest of 197 people was made based on the evidence found in 29 episodes of investigation into drug and arms trafficking as well as other violent crimes.
