Albanian fugitive Irfan Azizi, who is being extradited, has broken his bail and has been arrested in England.
According to a Westminster Magistrate Court extradition document seen by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, on 26/04/2026 in the Somerset area, Irfan Azizi was arrested by a police officer after it was found that he had broken his bail granted by the court by failing to report to Taunton police station every Tuesday and Thursday.
A few weeks ago, as reported by the Daily Mail Online, the well-known underworld figure in Berat, known as "Fania", attempted to block extradition from the UK to Albania, claiming that his life is in danger from a possible second assassination attempt organized by Talo Çela.
Irfan Azizi, who appeared in court, where he opposed extradition, stating that if he returns to Albania he will be killed.
According to his testimony, in 2020 he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, where he was shot about 30 times with an automatic weapon. “A bullet destroyed my hand in 13 places,” he declared before the British court.
Azizi claimed that the criminal group that organized the attack has strong connections and is capable of carrying out assassinations even for high-ranking figures, while adding that he did not receive any warning because "they do not warn, but act."
Albanian authorities are seeking him to serve a one-year prison sentence, after it was discovered that he was using a mobile phone while in custody.
During the hearing, he also made strong statements, admitting that he had paid to close court cases in Albania, while insisting that he does not want to return due to the risk to his life and that of his family.
On the other hand, the British prosecution questioned his claims, emphasizing that during the five years in England there had been no concrete threat to him or his family.
