New details have come to light regarding the event that took place in Thira, Greece, where an Albanian citizen fell prey to fraud by handing over 98,000 euros to some Bulgarians.
The 63-year-old from Fieri, Hatixe Shanko, has reported to the Thira police that she received a call with a secret number from a female citizen identified as a police officer, according to which Shanko's son, 39, was involved in a road accident and for this he had to pay 98 thousand euros.
The 63-year-old woman should have left the money near a garbage can on "25 Marsi" street 303, as she did.
After the investigations, the Greek police have identified the 4 perpetrators involved in the fraud. They are Nedyalko Vasilev, 27, Borislav Bozhanov, 34, Vesela Shtiliyanova, 29, and Stela Vasileva, 24, all Bulgarian nationals.
Through the examination of the security cameras, the police have identified 27-year-old Vasilev as the recipient of the money bag, while others have been identified as collaborators in the organization of the fraud.
According to the police, the 29-year-old Shtiliyanova made the call claiming that the victim's son had caused an accident resulting in death. In the role of the latter was the 34-year-old Bozhanov, who cried on the phone asking his "mother" for the amount of money.
The four suspects have been arrested by the police.
The 27-year-old Vasilev handed over the amount of 98,500 euros to the police, which was then given to the victim of the fraud.
