The court of Lezha has sentenced Antonio Leka to 6 years in prison, who in January 2023 was caught with an arsenal of weapons and wearing a bulletproof vest.
The 37-year-old man, who at the time of his arrest stated that he had set out to kill the politicians of Lezha, was found guilty of the criminal offenses "Possessing and manufacturing weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "Manufacturing and selling narcotics" and in total he was sentenced to 9 years in prison, but he benefited from a shortened trial and the joining of the two sentences.
Antonio Leka was stopped by the police on the Lezhë-Milot road axis, near the village of Ishull-Shëngjin, while it was his brother who alerted the police that he was moving armed and could commit a criminal event.
During the search of his car, the police found and seized as material evidence: 1 firearm pistol with 5 magazines, 1 automatic with 5 magazines, 550 cartridges for the pistol and automatic, 1 pair of binoculars, 1 anti-bullet military, 1 knife, 1 military bag, 75 grams of suspected narcotic cannabis and camouflage clothing.
During the arrest, Antonio Leka did not show resistance to the police officers, but it was said that he was heading towards Lezha to kill the politicians, while the 37-year-old turned out to be a person with a previous criminal record.
