"I want him for murder"/ How to buy crime masks on "TikTok",

What stands out is that the sellers are not hiding at all but have turned it into a market where they proudly advertise quality and delivery at all times.

"Tag the criminal friend", "Ready for crime"! These are some of the messages on some of the pages spread on "TikTok", where over 155.7 thousand followers seem to quietly follow the rules: "To steal or kill without being recognized?". This line of these requests is not a joke, but a reality that happens in the middle of the day in Albania. The Internet, which has brought so much development and communication, has not been left unutilized even by those who should be one step ahead of the police to supply criminals of all kinds.

Vetting researched for several weeks on social networks and found that only on TikTok, a network that is commonly used by young people, it was easy to find some accessories for people who are involved in crime, perpetrators of theft, up to imprisonment or murder. Vetting journalists have managed to find silicone masks and gloves, which are often used by individuals or even criminal groups. According to criminalistics expert Artan Rexhepi, "events where masks, gloves and other accessories are used entered the difficult events, not to say very difficult but not undetectable".

"These are events that you have to quickly isolate, you have to be able to find the mask, then you have to connect the mask to the person. If you find the mask you can find DNA traces, you can find hairs, I want to emphasize that it goes into the hard events. Masks create many gaps for discoverability, rather for the discoverability of events."

In the "network" of VETTING journalists, two TikTok addresses have fallen, bearing the names "Albanian Mask" and "Dangerous". At these two addresses, the sale of masks of different sizes, which are made of silicone material, is noticeable.

The masks suggested by these two sites manage to change 100% of human features, managing to fool security cameras. Experts even say that, with these masks, it is almost impossible to understand that it is a different person from the one who appears at first sight.

The masks have different sizes and reach up to the chest of the person, causing that, in addition to the face, details that could be deciphered by security cameras or witnesses who may be at the scene of the crime are hidden.

What stands out is that the sellers are not hiding at all but have turned it into a market where they proudly advertise quality and delivery at all times.

"Silicone mask, the best quality", "identical mask as in the video, shipping anywhere", "contact on Whatsapp for order", "500 euros cash", "payment on delivery", These ads are also accompanied by music "Mama I 'm a Criminal', as to convey the safety and guarantee of what this 'good' is worth. Meanwhile, thousands of followers of these pages follow this business quietly, do you say that we are dealing with an educational market, where everyone should participate.

From the research carried out by "VETTING" journalists, it appears that this TikTok page started its activity a few months ago, specifically on August 13, 2024, gaining hundreds and hundreds of followers within a few days. For "Vetting" lawyer Margarita Kola said "in cases where they are aware that they are selling to a criminal organization, here the law has no room for discussion, you are also a kind of collaborator with the one who will commit the crime. If it is proven with facts that you are selling to a criminal organization, you are definitely part of the crime, you will definitely be punished according to the law".

Experts raise the alarm that the state should turn its attention by changing the legislation for this type of advertising or the use of social networks for these "goods" that are sold. The well-known lawyer Kola emphasized that "we do not have a specific article on masks, but we can refer to Article 80 of the Criminal Code, which states that the creation of conditions to commit a theft or murder. The problem is that this is more about prevention than when it is committed as a criminal offense.

Even today, these masks that can be used by criminal groups, for robbery or murder, continue to be sold without any problem. According to lawyer Margarita Kola, "I will draw a parallel with weapons, which is a problem in other countries where the sale of weapons is allowed. In my opinion, it is not easy to prove that the seller with full motive and conviction sold you a mask or a pair of gloves with the motive to commit a crime. He may not be subject to a criminal offense, but I think that such cases will be regulated by law, for example, a formula could be like in the US when you buy a gun you register with your data, when you bought the weapon and you register with an ID card and the police know and it is very easy to know which person committed the crime, because they know that they bought this weapon in this place, in this place, on this day or the caliber of the weapon. This can also be fixed with the use of masks or gloves. The first time must start from the licensing, these entities that trade must be registered to know who sells and who bought. Whether it's for people who buy masks, silicone gloves or other tools, they should be registered so that it's easier to detect the crime"./ Vetting
