15:37 minutes would mark a very strong explosion in Lushnje this Friday. Footage shows what happened and how people run in fear to get away.
Others look at each other with their hands on their heads as they witnessed the horror that happened today. What is known so far is that two people, father and son, lost their lives while seven other people were injured. Among them is the deputy of the SP, Bujar Çela.
But what happened?
Because the explosion was heard throughout the city, the police immediately went to the scene. The fire and emergency forces also arrived there.
About two hours later, the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, came out and clarified what happened. Preliminary suspicions are that the explosion was caused by the contact of a crane with the high voltage line.
Minister Balla said that as a result of this contact and the discharge of high voltage current, an excavator that was working in the area exploded. Roland Hoxha died due to severe burns. He was inside the crane doing the work.
Next, the focus was on the wounded. Among them was Roland's son, Elidon Hoxha. He was with his father when the incident happened. Due to the serious injuries, Hoxha went to the Trauma Hospital to receive more specialized help, but unfortunately he could not survive. He died, bringing the number of victims from this tragedy to two, while seven were injured.
Two other patients in a more serious condition were also taken to Trauma, among them the deputy of the Socialist Party, Bujar Çela. Minister Balla said that he received a wound due to the explosion that was isolated by the doctors in Lushnje, but for a more specialized treatment he went to the capital. Klan News says he is a co-owner of the business where the incident took place.
The Minister said that the State Police from the first moment is conducting all investigations to identify the causes and responsibilities in this case. When asked if there was a deposit of oxygen at the scene that was tried to be lifted from the side of the crane, the minister said that the investigations will prove this.
"Everything I said is preliminary information because let's say the final assessment will be given by a full investigation. I would beg you that the information I shared with you is preliminary made available by the State Police and from the few statements that have been received until the moment we communicate together. Let's wait for the full investigation", said Balla.
But residents who have been near the warehouse say that the crane was lifting the oxygen cylinders that were being used for welding. Journalist Anila Sefa says that there were two such that exploded one after the other.
