A convict lost his life this Tuesday at the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) in Fier.
According to sources, the victim is Artur Doku, 52 years old, a resident of Burrel, who was serving a sentence for a murder committed in 1997. He still had 9 years and 5 months left in prison to serve.
Preliminary information indicates that the 52-year-old was suffering from heart problems and it is suspected that his death was due to natural causes. After his health deteriorated, he was urgently transported to the Fier Regional Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The body was then taken to the morgue for forensic examination, while authorities have initiated procedures to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
According to preliminary data, there are no suspicions of criminal circumstances. The official cause of death will be determined after the completion of the forensic examination.
