The court of Shkodra has sentenced to 4 years in prison the Italian who staged his death, Davide Pecorelli, the entrepreneur from Tiferno, who staged his death in Albania and who then reappeared in Italy in a more than brave way.
He is accused of arson, violation of the Albanian national borders as an illegal immigrant and obstruction to uncovering the truth.
Pecorelli was represented by his two lawyers Andrea Castori and Massimo Brazzi.
The prosecutor of the case requested 12 years in prison, while the judge of Shkodra, Arbër Cela, gave him 4 years in prison, which, according to the judge, can be suspended on condition or transformed into useful social work.
Meanwhile, for his extradition, the hearing before the Court of Appeal of Perugia to decide on Mr. Pecorelli's extradition request has been scheduled for May 28, 2024, which, however, currently does not seem to be enforceable.
We recall that the Perugia State Police investigations showed that, in January 2021, the 47-year-old, in order to avoid financial debts contracted in Italy, had set fire to the car rented in Albania.
The remains of a person were found inside the vehicle, to make his death more believable. He was then found alive on January 17, 2021, on the island of Montecristo (Italy).
While Davide Pecorelli himself has stated that he will soon be in Albania (Vlora) to clarify the story that he himself is staging.
