Police have released new details about the arrest of a 49-year-old man in Saranda who was posing as a prosecutor.
Alban Muço, 49, was arrested today by the Saranda Police, while posing as a prosecutor, deceiving citizens for profit.
According to the police, Erlind Çukari, 19, was also arrested for illegal possession of a weapon and for harboring the suspect in his apartment.
According to information, Alban Muço had deceived several people, setting up a fictitious structure with several individuals, whom he had told that he had hired as judicial police agents at the General Prosecutor's Office. He engaged these people with various "tasks or services" and even used them as personal drivers.
These people, deceived by his claims, paid for their own accommodation, food, and vehicle fuel, believing that they would be compensated later by the General Prosecutor's Office.
The 49-year-old also defrauded private entities, posing as a representative of the General Prosecutor's Office and claiming to purchase vehicles on behalf of this institution.
In some cases, he even presented himself as a SPAK prosecutor, in order to gain access to various institutions and create credibility among the people he was deceiving.
During the searches, the police seized a "Shars" automatic firearm, combat ammunition and various official documents, a police radio and a computer which are suspected of being used by the 49-year-old in this criminal activity.
"As a result of the quick and professional actions carried out by the Crime Investigation specialists of the Saranda Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, after receiving information that a citizen was presenting himself as a public official, for profit purposes, they organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Deceiver".
As part of this operation, it was possible to capture and arrest in flagrante delicto the following citizens:
-AM, 49 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offenses of "Fraud", "Using a state title or position" and "Removing a prisoner from his place of residence";
-E. Ç., 19 years old, resident of Saranda, for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
The investigation suspects that by presenting himself as a prosecutor and promising that they would be paid by the Prosecution Institution, citizen AM has employed several citizens in his service, to whom he has caused considerable economic damage. He has also sought favors from various institutions and entities.
From the verifications carried out, it turned out that the 49-year-old was wanted after violating the security measure "House Arrest", imposed by the Court, for the criminal offense of "Fraud", after appearing in institutions and taking money from citizens, presenting himself as a prosecutor.
Following the investigative actions to document the case, a search was conducted at the apartment of citizen E. Ç., in Saranda, where citizen AM was staying. During the search, 1 automatic firearm type "Shars", combat ammunition and various official documents, a police radio and a computer were found and seized as material evidence, which are suspected of having been used by citizen AM for fraud. The materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further procedural actions," the police announced.
