Cocaine on the ski slopes/ The criminal gang of Albanians in Italy, connected to

The investigative activity, launched in April 2023, focused on the activity of several families of Albanian origin, linked to a "boss" wanted for murder, belonging to a mafia clan from Shkodra.

The Italian police launched an operation in the early hours of the morning today against a criminal group operating in cocaine traffic in the Livigno area, on the ski slopes.

The criminal group also operated using women who sold drugs in the presence of their newborn children. The arrested had connections, through a wanted for murder, with the powerful mafia of Shkodra.

At the end of the investigation called "Après-Ski", the authorities took 12 precautionary measures against the members of a criminal group specialized in the trafficking and trading of narcotics. Six of them ended up in prison, five under house arrest, while one person was forced to appear.

The drug, called "bresaola" on the phone, was sold in cars in isolated areas of the Livigno area. The wives of the suspects also took part in the transport and sale: in order not to arouse suspicion and to avoid controls, the drugs were transported and sold in the presence of their children, minors and newborns.

The investigative activity, launched in April 2023, focused on the activity of several families of Albanian origin, linked to a "boss" wanted for murder, belonging to a mafia clan from Shkodra.

These are "respectable" families, well integrated into the socio-economic fabric of Livigno. It was this detail that made the investigation difficult. Another difficulty arose from the extreme caution used by the suspects, who used coded language in very limited communications, even in direct conversation.

The investigation revealed that some of the suspects were bragging on social media, carrying assault weapons and displaying cash.

The supply of cocaine passed into the hands of a 26-year-old Albanian citizen, also connected to the Shkodra mafia, who thanks to his connections managed to get the drug from Brussels, Turin and Brianza.

As soon as it arrived in Valtellina, the narcotic substance was collected by a 40-year-old man, who had the task of transporting it to Livigno where he lived, weighing it, dividing it into doses and giving it to the relevant drugs.

The investigative activity conducted thereafter created another line of inquiry. From the surveillance of drug dealers in Livigno, the investigators found that they also sold hashish, which they supplied through another channel.

The behavior was also different, based on the use of rented cars with a large capacity, with which the pushers reached the customers and avoided police checks.

During the investigations, the police made eight red-handed arrests and seized 1,823 grams of cocaine, 190 grams of heroin and 1,610 grams of hashish.

The execution of the precautionary measures took place at the same time in Valtellina (in the municipalities of Livigno and Sondalo), in Turin and Rimini, with the cooperation of the local Flying Squads, the Border Police Sector Tirano, the Local Police of Livigno and with the coordination of the central operational service of the Police of the State.

At the same time, one of the precautionary measures was carried out in France, by the French police, with the coordination of the International Police Cooperation Service of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police./ Al Servizio del Paeze
