Police have arrested a 33-year-old man after he was attempting to smuggle valuables.
He was caught at the Morina Border Crossing Point, with gold jewelry and a wristwatch worth around 50,000 euros. The police also seized the Audi vehicle.
The young man is accused of the criminal offenses of "smuggling other goods" and "failure to declare money and valuables at the border."
"The Morinë Border Police Services, following the controls to combat cross-border crimes, based on risk analysis and selective controls, at the entrance to Albania, have passed to the second line, for a more detailed control, the "Audi" type vehicle, driven by citizen QS. During the control in the vehicle, the Police Services found gold jewelry and a wristwatch, which he had not declared according to the law. The jewelry was seized as material evidence, along with the vehicle", the local police announced.
At the end of the procedural actions, the driver of the vehicle that was smuggling, QS, 33 years old, resident of Germany, was also arrested for the criminal offenses of "smuggling with other goods" and "failure to declare money and valuables at the border" , the police announced.
