Police have cracked a case of smuggling goods, and a 26-year-old man has been arrested.

During the operation, near Kamza, Police services stopped a vehicle driven by citizen EK.

From the search of the vehicle, the blue uniforms found 524 grams of gold, which were hidden in the vehicle's battery.

Also, during the search, various clothing, cigarette packs, two sewing machines, as well as other items and equipment were seized.

Citizens FK and MG have been declared wanted, as they are accused of illegally importing seized goods into Albania, together with a 26-year-old.

"He was caught red-handed near Kamza transporting suspected smuggled goods, the 26-year-old was arrested. Two of his associates were also declared wanted. Around 524 grams of gold, various clothing, a sum of money, 2 sewing machines, as well as other suspected smuggled items were seized."

Specialists of the Money Laundering and Criminal Assets Investigation Section, based on information obtained through operational means, have organized the police operation codenamed "Diversity", cracking down on a case of smuggling of goods.

Near Kamza, the Police services stopped the vehicle driven by citizen EK. During the search of the vehicle, 524 grams of gold were found hidden in the vehicle's battery. Also found in the vehicle were various clothes, packs of cigarettes, two sewing machines, as well as other items and equipment.

Following the procedural actions in this case, citizen EK, 26 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto, while citizens FK and MG were declared wanted.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that citizen EK, in collaboration with citizens FK and MG, illegally imported the above-mentioned goods into the territory of the Republic of Albania. The procedural materials were passed on to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
