A 20-year-old Albanian woman has died in Italy after falling from the second floor of the building where she lived in the city of Piacenza. The victim has been identified as Anxhela Byku, who died in hospital after several days in critical condition.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning in a building on Beverora Street. According to Italian media reports, the young woman is suspected of falling into the building's inner courtyard from a height of about 8 meters.
After the fall, she was immediately rushed to the Piacenza hospital, where doctors intervened to stabilize her. Her condition was very serious from the very beginning.
Doctors had also considered transferring her to another hospital in Parma for more specialized treatment. However, due to her critical health condition, the transfer did not take place.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff and the hopes of family and friends for improvement, the 20-year-old woman did not survive and died in hospital.
According to local media, Anxhela Byku had been living in that apartment with her husband for about a month.
The circumstances of the fall remain unclear. Investigations are being carried out by the Italian Carabinieri, who are trying to clarify the dynamics of the event.
According to preliminary media reports, the possibility of an attempted murder has been ruled out, while the main suspicions relate to the possibility of a tragic accident or a desperate act.
