Anti-drug raids in the Teramo area in Italy have continued for several days, bringing the number of people arrested to 9, of whom 8 are Albanians. The action is carried out by carabinieri of the Investigative Operations Unit, executing arrest warrants from the prosecutor's office.
Initially, two Albanian couples were arrested and then the number increased to 8 people, of whom 4 are women, both Albanian, and the ninth is an Italian.
The investigation into drug trafficking in the Teramo area began in 2024 after the arrest in Roseto degli Abruzzi of a local drug trafficker found in possession of 1.2 kilograms of cocaine and 40,000 euros in cash.
This case revealed a complex drug trafficking system that involved the main cities along the Teramo coast. The network consisted of two related Albanian families, dedicated to packaging and distributing drugs to a large clientele of consumers, many of whom were unsuspecting.
Sales were carried out through personal meetings and direct contacts, often in nightlife hotspots such as Roseto degli Abruzzi, Pineto, Tortoreto, Ancarano and Sant'Omero.
During the investigation, the carabinieri documented over a hundred cocaine sales and arrested an Italian citizen associated with the group, who was found with 800 grams of cocaine.
Subsequent checks led to the seizure of a total of 300 grams of drugs and 40,700 euros in cash, hidden in a false skirt used to evade security, Italian media reported on the details.
