An eyewitness has described the final moments of the lives of 3 Albanians who lost their lives in a tragic accident on the Egnatia highway, after they were burned inside the vehicle they were traveling in.
Their car burst into flames, claiming their lives, while only one woman managed to survive the serious accident that occurred on Monday afternoon.
"We could hear the three people begging us to get them out. Get us out, get us out. They were screaming for help, get us out, save us. They were burning alive. We saw them with our own eyes and all three were charred. We couldn't get them out, they were trapped," the witness told ANT1.
Explaining what happened, he also said that "Within a split second, the car caught fire. It started making lots of explosions. The fire was coming from the truck. It was fast."
The victims were returning from a wedding. The three victims of the tragic car accident are Viktor Bushi, 59, his 57-year-old wife, Marianka, and their friend Klarenc Kacaj, 61, who was sitting in the passenger seat.
Marianka was sitting in the back seat of the car next to Klarenc Kacaj's 49-year-old wife. Mardalena Kacaj is the only survivor after managing to get out of the burning car.
The four were returning from a wedding in Xanthi, while in the second car that the truck hit were Viktor and Marianka's daughter, their son-in-law, as well as the victims' grandson and granddaughter, aged 4 and 6.
When the truck hit the car driven by the 59-year-old, it then collided with the car in which his pregnant daughter, her husband and their two children were traveling.
Both cars were heading to Xanthi, in a 600-meter queue at the toll booth. A fire broke out at the scene, killing the 59-year-old driver, his wife and his friend.
