A 42-year-old Albanian man has been arrested for burglarizing apartments in Brescia, and is suspected of being a member of a 'hawk' group.
To escape arrest, he has attempted all manner of aggression, not only attacking and punching officers in action, but also biting them.
The incident took place on Saturday evening, in Via delle Bettole, and stolen goods were seized, mainly jewelry and materials used for the raids.
The Albanian was a registered person, with many criminal records, when he was spotted by one of the patrols in an apartment area. After seeing the patrol, he tried to run away, revealing a nervousness that the officers noticed.
After being chased through the alleys, he also threw away the tools he used for the thefts, including a large screwdriver and a flashlight. After being surrounded by officers, he displayed extreme violence, kicking and punching officers in the face, and even biting them. Two officers suffered injuries that required medical treatment at Sant'Anna Hospital, Italian media reported.
Pepper spray was used to subdue him. During a physical search and a search of a nearby car, two smartphones, some valuable gold jewelry, a pair of scissors, and other burglary tools were discovered. All items were seized.
He was arrested for several criminal offenses and placed in solitary confinement.
