Saranda police have arrested Kevin Nora, 23, the young man suspected of being the cause of Sunday evening's serious accident, in which two sisters from the village of Kopaçez in Delvinës, Ela and Rezi Dhimaku, lost their lives.
According to the blue uniforms, the 23-year-old was driving an "Audi" vehicle while intoxicated, when he made a wrong overtaking move and collided head-on with a "Lancia" vehicle, in the place known as "Pularia", on the Saranda-Delvina road axis.
The alcohol test showed that he had a very high blood alcohol level.
The collision proved fatal for the driver of the "Lancia", Ela Dhimaku, 22 years old, and her sister Rezi Dhimaku, 20 years old, who was traveling as a passenger in the front seat.
The only survivor of the accident in the victims' car is Antonela Zhupa, 24 years old, who was initially taken to the Saranda hospital with multiple traumas, but according to doctors her life is out of danger. For more specialized treatment, she was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where she is under the care of doctors.
Police announce that the 23-year-old has been arrested for the criminal offenses of "Violation of traffic rules" and "Driving vehicles in an irregular manner." The materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further investigative actions.
Young Kevi Norra, a specialist at the Ministry of Interior, was traveling from Saranda to Gjirokastra in an Audi when he was involved in a serious accident on the Delvinë-Saranda road on the evening of August 24.
