The Durrës police have clarified the details of the suicide of deputy police commissioner Arben Pjeçi.
According to the police, the deceased lost contact with his family members, while he was found dead in his office.
Pjeçi killed himself with his service weapon after being sentenced by a final decision by the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for "Slight Injury", based on Article 89 of the Criminal Code.
The Court's final decision has begun to be executed by the responsible structures of the Probation Service and the State Police.
According to the police, in the conditions of depression for the penalties brought by the decision of final punishment, interrupting the work relationship with the State Police, Arben Pjeçi committed suicide in the premises of the office at the Durrës Police Station.
"Today, on 25.01.2024, the Durrës Police Station was notified by the family members of Police Officer Arben Pjeçi about the loss of contact with their family member, who is currently on duty as a Criminal Police Specialist at this station.
From the Durrës Police Station, actions to search and find the specialist began.
For the notification made by the family members, a report was received, the ready prosecutor was notified, a series of procedural actions were carried out, as well as the telephone numbers were checked, in order to locate the location of this citizen.
As part of all the operational and procedural actions for his search, around 16:15, in the premises of the Durrës Police Station, the office of the Judicial Police officer, Arben Pjeçi, was forcibly opened, who was found to have committed suicide, with the weapon of service.
Police employee Arben Pjeçi has been sentenced by a final decision by the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for the criminal offense of "slight injury", based on Article 89 of the Criminal Code.
The Court's final decision has begun to be executed by the responsible structures of the Probation Service and the State Police.
The Police employee, in the conditions of depression due to the penalties brought by the final punishment decision that conditioned him in the future with the termination of the work relationship with the State Police, committed suicide with the service weapon in the premises of the work office, in Durra Police Station.
For this event, a special investigative group was created, under the direction of the Durrës Prosecutor's Office and officers of the Judicial Police of the Prosecutor's Office.
The Police Surveillance Agency was also notified of this event.
Regarding the circumstances and for the final clarification of the motive, we will have an exhaustive notification at the end of the preliminary investigative actions", announced the police.
