A serious denunciation has reached our editorial office, where several employees originating from Asian countries, mainly from Myanmar, have raised serious claims about the conditions in which, according to them, they work at the "Rozafa" restaurant, owned by businessman Gjergj Luca.
According to statements made to Maska.al, the employees claim that they are forced to work up to 16 hours a day, without any weekly rest days. They state that, although they are provided with accommodation and food, the housing conditions are difficult, as 5 to 6 people share the same room.
Our sources indicate that their salary varies, while some employees have stated that they receive up to 500 euros per month.
The claims raised by the employees raise serious questions about compliance with Albanian labor legislation, which provides clear restrictions on working hours, weekly rest, and minimum standards for the treatment of employees.
Maska.al emphasizes that these are claims made by employees who have contacted the editorial office and that the mentioned party has the full right to give its version of the event. The editorial office remains open to any reaction or clarification from Gjergj Luca or representatives of the “Rozafa” restaurant, in order to provide balanced information to the public.
Will the authorities react? These allegations raised by employees for Maska.al raise serious questions about the respect of employees' rights. It remains to be seen whether the State Police, headed by Skënder Hitaj, as well as the responsible institutions, will initiate verifications of these allegations and whether actions will be taken to fully clarify them. / Maska.al
