An 18-year-old woman was found shot to death in a hotel near the Faculty of Economics roundabout in Tirana.

It was initially reported that the young woman was found injured in this area, while further investigations have revealed the preliminary dynamics of the incident.

According to Tirana Police, a review of security camera footage has revealed that the incident took place in the premises of a hotel in the Sauk area, where the 18-year-old, with the initials NK, is suspected of having shot herself in the chest.

After the incident, the young woman was transported to the hospital at around 00:15 by citizen Mirvete Rexhmati (Gjuta), 48 years old, and citizen E. Gj., 24 years old. 

Following the investigation, the 48-year-old, along with Vladimir Gjuta, were arrested by the police, while three other people were declared wanted. The five citizens are charged with the criminal offenses of "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth."

Meanwhile, one of the wanted persons, citizen E. Gj., 22 years old, who according to sources turns out to be the boyfriend of the 18-year-old, is also accused of the criminal offense of "Unlicensed Weapon Possession". It is reported that the weapon used in the crime belonged to the 22-year-old who is wanted. 

Investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and to document the legal responsibility of the persons involved.

Who is Vladimir Gjuta, arrested by police?

In April 2021, the Tirana Court sentenced Vladimir Gjuta, arrested in February 2020 for having a weapon with him near the headquarters of the Socialist Party, to 5 years in prison.

After his arrest, Gjuta was charged with "unlicensed possession of combat weapons" and "unlicensed possession of cold weapons."

Vladimir Gjuta is a well-known name in the underworld, as he is accused of being involved in a conflict with former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri several years ago and of being among the perpetrators of placing TNT at the pharmacy of the former minister's father.

"On 14.02.2026, at around 00:15, citizen NK, 18 years old, presented to the hospital with gunshot wounds, and her life is out of danger.

From the rapid investigative actions carried out by specialists for the Investigation of Crimes against Life and Property, as well as from the examination of security camera footage, it resulted that the incident occurred on the premises of a subject in Sauk, where the 18-year-old is suspected of having self-injured with a firearm.

The injured person was transported to the hospital by citizen MR (Gj) and citizen E. Gj., 24 years old.

Following the procedural actions:

-citizens V. Gj., 46 years old, and MR (Gj), 48 years old, were arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that impede the discovery of the truth";

- citizens S. Gj., 49 years old, and E. Gj., 24 years old, were declared wanted for the criminal offenses "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth", as well as citizen E. Gj., 22 years old, for the criminal offenses "Failure to report a crime", "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth" and "Unlicensed possession of weapons".

These citizens are suspected of tampering with evidence at the scene and failing to report the crime.

Work continues to locate and seize the firearm used in the incident, as well as to capture the 3 wanted citizens, with the aim of fully legally documenting the case.

"The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
