Two Albanians have been arrested in Italy after being caught with drugs and cash. The suspicious movements of the young men caught the attention of the police, leading to their arrest. They are accused of drug trafficking.
The investigations also revealed a well-organized cocaine distribution network in the city and beyond, which operated mainly in the city center and the sale of the "goods" took place in broad daylight.
According to the police, the arrested people chose populated and busy areas to make it difficult for the officers to follow them in case of detection, but also to catch them red-handed, as it gave them time to hide the drugs.
After a several-day chase, officers caught the young men red-handed as they sold a dose to the driver of a car passing by.
At the time of the stop, the driver was found to be in possession of a dose of cocaine, for which he was fined as a drug user. During the check, it turned out that he was without any valid documents, such as a driving license and insurance, leading to further sanctions provided for by the Highway Code, while the vehicle was seized for the purpose of confiscation.
After the arrest, the two Albanians were found with cash and 9 doses of cocaine ready for retail sale. Investigations led to their 'den', an apartment on 'Via Roma', but not directly connected to them, but from where they received supplies.
The old house was searched, leading to the discovery of 22 more doses of cocaine, precision scales and material used to package the substances.
The two Albanians had no prior records, one of them was illegal and had recently entered Italy. According to the police, the total weight of the drugs was 30.11 grams, and the amount of 1,700 euros was seized.
