Went to Italy as a tourist, 24-year-old Albanian caught selling cocaine

A 24-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by Italian carabinieri as part of a drug distribution network.

The operation was carried out in Vairano Patenora, on Via Panoramica, by officers from the Vairano Scalo Station in Caserta, Naples. The Albanian had no fixed residence, but had entered Italy legally as a tourist.

Officers caught the young man as he sold a dose of 0.44 grams of cocaine to a 47-year-old local man, in exchange for 40 euros.

After a personal search, the 24-year-old was found in possession of 4 more doses of cocaine (with a total weight of 1.77 grams), 2 doses of 0.81 grams, 2 doses of hashish weighing 10.53 grams in total, as well as the amount of 635 euros in cash, and a smartphone, Italian media reports.

The police are verifying the Albanian's messages and contacts on the seized phone, as it is suspected that he is part of a larger trafficking organization.

The 47-year-old buyer was reported to the Prefecture for personal use of narcotics, while the arrested person was sent to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
