Damage to several buildings and vehicles, fortunately no injuries
A strong explosion shook the city of Lezha on the evening of April 5, around 11:00 PM, in the "Besëlidhja" neighborhood, causing panic among residents and considerable material damage.
The explosion occurred inside a bakery, owned by citizen KM, while the noise was heard over a wide area of the city.
According to official information from the Police, it is suspected that the cause of the explosion was a gas cylinder inside the business premises. As a result, the premises suffered extensive damage, while two adjacent businesses were also affected. The force of the explosion broke the windows of three vehicles parked nearby and also caused damage to the facades of surrounding buildings.
" Around 23:00, in the city of Lezha, inside a business, a gas cylinder is suspected to have exploded. As a result, material damage was caused to the premises, vehicles and two nearby businesses ," the Police announced. Residents of the area came out of their homes in alarm, but no injuries were reported.
The investigative group has surrounded the area and is continuing its actions under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office to fully clarify the circumstances of the explosion and to legally document the case.
Preliminary suspicions focus on a defect in the gas cylinder, but authorities are not ruling out other leads until the investigation is complete.
